“Suppose that I believe that the instrument is the very model of precision and perfection. Then I begin to believe that my eyesight is very limited, that it hides more from me than I see. And the superiority of the instrument mediated ‘world’ is what lies underneath (if not behind) the mundane world.”
Animators working within industry often build characters and their motions at the same time, creating an equivalence between who someone is and how they move. It feels natural, but in fact it’s a technique designed to aid storytelling. It’s a fairytale of motion. That’s what this film is about.
