Summary: Dynamics Test Date: July 2009
Work done: 3D modelling, dynamics, lighting, texturing, animation, 2D compositing.
Format: Full HD Duration: 17 seconds Completion time: 2 days
A very quick piece - almost a test of my ability to not go overboard. I completed this in a couple of days and it was really just a chance to play around with rigid body dynamics in Maya. The blocks fall and stack according to the simulation. There’s a few dust particles in there as well, but if I were to revisit this animation I’d tone them down and tone up the collisions so that the towers were closer to toppling. All the work is my own, but I got the basic design of the tower from an image I found on the net. I’m not sure where it came from, but I’ve included it to the left along with some of the test images I made while playing with particles.
The soundtrack is the intro from Rufus Wainwright’s ‘Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk’.
